This project was a complete transformation of an existing bathroom that originally only had a bath. The brief was to create a space that felt modern, practical, and indulgent — more like a spa you’d find in a luxury hotel, but tailored to the family home.
We began by redesigning the layout, making space for a full wet room shower tray alongside the bath. By reworking the proportions, we were able to give the room a more open, spacious feel while still including every feature the clients wanted.
To bring in that clean, contemporary look, we advised on tile choices and layouts that would maximise the “hotel feel.” The walls and ceiling were replastered where needed, and the floor was fitted with electric underfloor heating — so the room feels warm and welcoming from the moment you step inside.
Lighting played a key role in the atmosphere. The bath light is on a dimmer, meaning you can sink into the tub with a glass of wine and some music, adjusting the glow to create a calm, spa-like mood. For everyday use, the main lights and fan light work together to keep the space bright and fresh, while recessed lighting in the shower shelf adds subtle highlights.
A state-of-the-art remote-controlled shower was also installed. This allows you to start it from the bedroom or just outside the bathroom — so by the time you step in, the water is already at the perfect temperature. No cold surprises, just comfort and convenience built in.
The electrics were completed by Autons Electrical, and the plastering by Tim Smith. The result is a bathroom that combines practical functionality with genuine relaxation — a space to enjoy as much as to use.
